TEACH Robotics Team Receives Think Award in FTC Tennessee State Championship!

Congratulations to the TEACH "Engineers' Army" Robotics Team.  On Saturday, February 13th, team won the Think Award in FTC Tennessee State Championship.

This award is given to the team that best reflects the "journey" the team took as they experienced the engineering design process during the build season.   The Engineering Notebook is the key reference for judges to help identify the most deserving team.  The team's Engineering Notebook should focus on the design and build stage of the team's robot.  Journal entries of interest to judges for this award will include those describing the steps, brainstorms, designs, re-designs, successes, and those "interesting moments" when things weren't going as planned.  A team will not be a candidate for this award if they have not completed the section of the Engineering Notebook describing the team's experience.

Our team is qualified for the Georgia State Championship which will be held at Southern Polytechnic State University on February 20th, 2010.

Inspire Award WinnersCongratulations to the TEACH RoboStallions
"Engineer Army" Robotics Team.  On Saturday, January 16th they won the highly coveted FTC  Inspire Award at the North Georgia Regional Qualifier.

The Inspire Award is the most prestigious FTC award, The team was chosen by the judges as having best represented a role model FIRST Tech Challenge Team.  To win the award the team had to be a top contender for all judging categories which were on field competition,  robotic design and strategy, community involvement and documenting their build strategy and process in an engineering notebook.  They  have now qualified for the State Championship being held on February 20, 2010.

Team members Aarth Thakore, Reid Kersey, Trevor Daniel, David Purcell, Jackson Morgan, Brennon  Bukavics  and Andrew Powell Participated at the regional qualifier.  The entire team which  includes Ian Fraser and Michael Penna  who have recent left TEACH put in many days and long hours getting ready for the competition.  They had to overcome several difficult obstacles such as developing an effective ball collection and shooting mechanism and redesigning the robots gear mechanism just hours before the competition because the robot was too big and would not pass inspection.

Congratulations to all the team members and their Teachers and coaches, Tahir Duzyol, Ali Polat, Mert Gokaya,  Beth Kersey, Tim Fraser for a job well done.  TEACH charter High members should be  proud and share in this significant accomplishment, as shown in the words of the Judge announcer at the competition "The winners of this years FTC Highest award, the Inspire award, goes to a group of students from a small school with a great all round team robotics team that embodies the spirit of First Tech Challenge. A team that is a model to all other teams for design, engineering, being a strong competitor, team spirit, community involvement, build strategy and engineering notebook - TEACH Engineering Army".
